Gomaringen is nicely located at the bottom of the Schwaebischen Alb. The surrounding is dominated by wood-, fruit- and grass meadows. The neighbor cities are Reutlingen, Moessingen and Tuebingen. Due to location on the small mountain ridge the Gomaringen castle and the church dominate the historical silhouette of the city. On the bottom of the hill you can find the houses of the craftsmen and the farmers. A lot of the houses are built along the river Wiesaz. The old fish water of the Lords of the castle had been the water source for the oil and grain mills. Today the water was renaturated and it is a pittoresque kaleidoscope of the city landscape. Only a few kilometers north west of Gomaringen there is the small village of Stockach, which is part of Gomaringen since 1973.

Kemmler

Currently 3 Kemmler lines start in Gomaringen around 1710 – and 1725. So far I have only done research in the family register. To dig deeper I still have some work todo in the birth, marriage and death records.

Copies of the mircofilms are also available from the Mormon church. The parish does also host the data of Hinterweiler and possibly those of Stockach which have been formerly part of the parish in Dusslingen.
